Design work, glue chipping, glass etching, glass embossing
Individual commission work for all establishments, businesses and private clients.
Ryan is a proud Dundonian still living and working from his studio here in Bonnie Dundee.
A great deal of his working life has been spent in the decorative industry, where he was introduced to the art of decorative glass and mirror work. An endangered Victorian craft that once adorned many a public house, gin palace or grand Victorian mansion in the 19th Century.
His enthusiasm for this craft led him to work under the tutelage of Mr David A Smith MBE, a leader in this unique field of work. David’s dedication, supreme craftsmanship, and personal sacrifice to keep this craft alive for future generations were and still are a huge inspiration in Ryan’s continuing journey.
The craft of reverse glass work includes detailed art and design, glue chipping, glass embossing, etching, sandblasting, chemical silvering, water and oil gilding with precious metals ,predominantly gold and silver.
Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup, and “THE LISBON LIONS” legend was born.
An avid football fan, this great achievement inspired me to create a lasting memory of this historical milestone in Scottish sporting history that will live long in Celtic folklore.
The panel was created in the time-honoured techniques and design, including chemical silvering, glue chipping, mother of pearl inlays, gold leaf work and hand-painted enamels.
This is just one sample of all that I offer, created to individually designed commissions.
Individual commission work for all establishments, businesses and private clients.
The techniques offered are detailed design work, glue chipping, glass etching, glass embossing, sandblasting, chemical silvering, oil and water gilding using precious metals, mainly gold and silver, hand-painted enamels, mother of pearl inlay and glass scalloping.
These techniques are all intended to replicate the process as it was performed in the late 19th century.
